Once you have, initially, done all of this, all Adonit Pixel compatible apps will remember these settings for future use! You have to initially Bluetooth pair the Adonit Pixel, setup the hand/palm position and in many apps, set up the stylus screen pressure sensitivity for each and every compatible app! The Adonit Pixel stylus is NOT an Apple Pencil in this regard/respect. You just DO NOT simply turn on Bluetooth on an an iDevice and turn on the Adonit stylus and start writing. You WILL have to perform some pairing and setup parameters in each of the Adonit Pixel compatible apps.

Works with about a dozen of the major/popular drawing/sketching/painting apps (the Pixel works with, but currently not “officially” supported with Procreate, but it still works and works pretty well in Procreate ), and about a half dozen of the popular note taking apps, a half dozen writing apps and about a half dozen PDF style/compatible apps. Made of very high quality aluminum materials. I find it only lasts for between 9-12 hours, but Adonit claims up to 16 hours of continuous use on a charge cycle. Has both a small USB charger that that plugs into any USB charging block OR you can purchase an optional charging dock. Magnetically charges, has an auto 15 minute shutdown feature ( to preserve battery life ), charges in a hour. Has a nice fine, textured pen tip AND a nice rubber grip. The Adonit Pixel has ON/OFF/ shortcut buttons. I have been using this stylus for over two and a half years now and it is really good on my iPad Pro. Plus it's a quality made, aluminum stylus with two programmable buttons. The Bluetooth connection is stable and its Bluetooth pressure sensing technology is very smooth, natural feeling and has consistent line drawing ability. This smart, Bluetooth stylus works across a wide range of iDevices. It is the ONLY Bluetooth stylus that works well with ANY iPad. If you're a fan of Windows hardware, there's not a whole lot of difference performance-wise between the two styli so that the Surface Slim Pen will be great for doodling and note-taking.I honestly fully recommend the Adonit Pixel stylus for your 5th gen 2017 iPad. Should you already be in possession of a Surface device, they're one clear choice here, likewise with an iPad.

The first-gen Pencil works with all iPad Pro devices too. To use the Pencil with other iPads, you'll need to use the older stylus. The Apple Pencil 2nd Generation only works with the iPad Pro. The Microsoft Surface Slim Pen will work with a whole host of hardware, though, including: The Surface Slim Pen will not play well with the iPad Pro, and the Pencil will not want to connect to a Surface tablet. Windows or iPad OSįor compatibility, you'll not be able to use either stylus with opposite hardware platforms.

Both styli support Bluetooth, have tilt support, wireless charging, magnetic attachment support, and last for more than 10 hours on a single charge. The Surface Slim Pen is both considerably lighter and more compact - hence the name. Where Microsoft's Surface Slim Pen comes out on top is with weight and dimensions. Microsoft's Surface Pens and Apple Pencils have been fairly consistent with this regard, and choosing one over the other won't unlock some hidden enhancements. There's not much to differentiate between the two in terms of performance.

If you prefer a full Windows environment, go with the Surface Slim Pen.
#APPLE STYLUS PEN FOR IPAD PRO PORTABLE#
If you prefer Apple's portable experiences on the iPad, the Pencil is for you. You can't compare the Apple Pencil (2nd generation) against the Microsoft Surface Slim Pen since both styli are for different platforms.
